Summary: In Malebolgia 2003, statesman Bingham Elisha Dashwood III is running for governor. He has invited the Brigadier as a guest. He is a member of the Hellfire Club and has kidnapped the Doctor and Charley. The Hellfire Club is actually a satanic cult, and Dashwood has summoned a demon and offered the Doctor and Charley in the hopes that the demon will do his bidding.
Review: When I saw that the Brigadier was in this story, I was excited, as he’s one of my all-time favorite characters. I thought the story was one of Big Finish’s most intense stories so far. Robert Jerek is excellent as Dashwood. It was a real treat to hear Nicholas Courtney again.
The only negative I have is that both the 8th Doctor and Charley are amnesiac for most of the story. This causes the story to drag a bit, but once they get their memories back, the story begins to pick up.
Overall Review: 9/10
Continuity: The Doctor mentions wanting to visit Dr. Halloway from the TV movie. The Brigadier also fought demons in “The Demons” and “Battlefield”.
Trivia: This is the Brigadier’s second story with Big Finish. His first was The Spectre of Lanyan Moor.
