Tenth Doctor: The Idiot’s Lantern

Writer: Mark Gatiss

Director: Euros Lyn

Producer: Phil Collinson

Series: 2, episode 7

Companion: Rose Tyler (Billie Piper)

Summary: The Doctor and Rose arrive in 1950’s London, where an alien being known as The Wire is stealing the essence of humans, reducing them to faceless husks and trapping them inside televisions.

Review: This is one of the middle of the road episodes for Tennant’s era.  The Wire is kind of a ridiculous enemy the way she’s constantly hamming it up. The special effects are good.  However, I feel this is an episode that fits the classic era more than the New Who.

Overall Review: 5/10

Continuity: Magpie Electronics was also mentioned in the Destiny of the Doctor audio drama Hunters of Earth.
