Writer: Neil Cross
Director: Marcus Wilson
Producer: Denise Paul
Companion: Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman)
Series: 7, ep. 8
Summary: The Doctor takes Clara to Akhaten, a planet he visited with Susan. It is the Festival of Offerings, and a sacrifice is required.
Review: This is one of my favorite Clara episodes. The flashbacks to her past and that leaf are great. (Kind of reminded me of Wash. You Browncoats know who I mean) Akhaten looked beautiful and the special effects are nice. This was one of the best stories of Matt Smith’s era.
Overall Review: 10/10
Continuity: The Eleventh Doctor wears Amy’s glasses again. The Doctor faced a sentient celestial body in “42”. Both Jack Harkness and Charlotte Pollard were rejected by the TARDIS. The Doctor saw the birth of the universe in his Fifth incarnation. He saw time run out in “Utopia” and “The Big Bang”. He saw universes freeze in “Amy’s Choice” and burn in “Inferno”. And he was in worlds where the laws of physics were altered in “The Mind Robber”, “The Three Doctors”, “Gods and Monsters” and “The Next Life”. A native of the City-State of Binding Light is seen during the Festival of Offerings. (“The End of The World”)
