Eleventh: The Crimson Horror

crimson horror

Writer: Mark Gatiss

Director: Saul Metzstein

Producer: Marcus Wilson

Companion: Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman)

Series: 7, ep. 11

Summary: The Paternoster Gang investigates a string of victims of a “crimson horror” at Gillyflowers Sweetville Mill, one of whom is the Doctor himself.

Review: This episode felt like a combination of Edgar Allen Poe and Sherlock Holmes. Strax stole the show. There were some great spooky moments throughout. This is one of my favorite episodes of Matt Smith’s final season.

Continuity: The Doctor mentions how much trouble it was for the TARDIS to get to Heathrow airport, referencing Tegan Jovanka, one of the Fifth Doctor’s companions. He even tells Clara “Brave heart”, one of the Fifth Doctor’s catch phrases. Angie, one of the children Clara is babysitting, finds pictures of her in the past. Jenny mentions Clara’s death in “The Snowmen”.
