Writer: Peter Harness
Director: Daniel Nettheim
Producer: Peter Bennett
Companions: Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman), Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave)
Series: 9. ep. 8
Summary: The Doctor travels to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, where a Zygon outpost is stationed. Zygons have taken the forms of Clara and Kate Stewart, and have found two devices that could wipe out either all of the Zygons or all of the humans.
Review: I feel that series 9 was a much stronger series than series 8. By taking the stories and making most of them two -parters, the writers had more time to develop the stories than they did in the previous series. This was a great conclusion, even if it was a bit heavy on the preaching. I loved the Doctor’s speech as he told them that war continues to escalate and in the end, really solves nothing. It was a great look at the dangers of xenophobia.
Continuity: UNIT’s safe house is hidden behind a painting of the First Doctor. Osgood claims that she’d have to shoot the Doctor twelve times in order to kill him. Kate says “five rounds rapid”, a line uttered by her father in “The Daemons”. The Doctor refers to himself as Doctor Disco rather than his usual alias of John Smith. Osgood says that she never met Clara, which is untrue, she met her in “Day of the Doctor”.
Overall Rating: 10/10
